A video installation consisting of the pages of the 2023 Florida Heartbeat Protection Act stitched together with surgical suture into a projection screen. A video of a roaring fire plays across the surface as a white male hand throws a "baby" into the flames, accompanied by the sounds of childbirth, an infant’s cry, and an old national anthem.​

It was never about the kids transforms Florida’s six-week abortion ban into a projection surface, merging together nationalism and performance. The work frames the bill as an act of political theater, staging control over women’s bodies as moral protection, revealing how policy operates as spectacle and a tool of power, rather than empathy.
